Description

A Fins Bois Vintage rarity aged for at least 40 years

Featuring as part of their limited edition collection of Vintage Cognacs, the Park Cognac 1977 Fins Bois is a very special bottling indeed. Aged in natural cellars in the family distillery at the heart of Jarnac, the Tessendier family weigh over four generations of savoir-faire. This is a one-of-a-kind Vintage that perfectly exemplifies the power of the Fins Bois terroir when its eaux-de-vie are left to mature for a sufficient amount of time.

The Vintage is lightly toasted to tease out the delicately sweet flavors from the wood, such as honey, vanilla and custard. It is crafted with 100% Ugni Blanc grapes from the Fins Bois which provide freshness and finesse, and allow the characteristics of each terroir to shine through. Aged in oak barrels with a capacity of 350 liters, firstly in new barrels and then the Cognac is transferred to used casks, mainly from the Limousin forest.

The distillation process abides by Cognac rules - Park Cognac double-distill their Vintage Cognacs using traditional copper pot stills of 30 hectare liters; it is this process makes it possible to obtain complex, finely elaborated spirits. This is also known as the ‘Charentais’ method. Usually, the Fins Bois is renowned for being a terroir with a quick aging environment, and its subsequent flowery bouquet. It is the largest of all of the Cognacs terroirs, and circles around three others. The strong, full bodied and rich aromas are often tinged slightly by the maritime climate in which it is situated.

The beauty of a Vintage Cognac is the power of the Master Blender to know exactly when a Cognac can be extracted from the cask and bottled directly. There is no blending involved; it reveals a lot about the power of a harvest from one year, in this case, 1977.

Presentation

A smart and simple Park Cognac bottle, adorned with the stag emblem of the family house and information about the Vintage handwritten and sealed with a copper-colored wax. It also arrives in a gorgeous wooden and black presentation box, which makes it a wonderful gift for a Cognac lover.

How to serve

After tasting your 1977 Fins Bois Vintage, leave a little in the bottom of the tasting glass. Return to the glass after a few minutes and inhale the aromas once more. You should discover a whole new host of new ones, expanding your appreciation of this wonderful Millésime.

The Cognac Park Cellar Master suggests to close your eyes while enjoying the bouquet to fully focus on the sensory impressions of this Cognac.

Enjoy it as a digestif, or accompanied by a peppery and spicy Cuban cigar.
