Description

One Barrel, One Year, One Cru - Maison Park Cellar No 8 2006 Borderies Cognac

Cognac Park are well known for creating a unique and wide variety of Cognacs, with a diverse range of vintages and eaux-de-vie, their recent release of two 2006 vintages, one Grande Champagne and one Borderies certainly do not disappoint.

This particular edition, the 2006 Borderies Cognac from Cellar No. 8, has a more fruity, spicier character to it and offers a fuller flavor profile than others of this cru. The quality and complexity of this vintage is really one to be savored!

Cognac Park's goal is ultimately to please Cognac connoisseurs by providing Cognacs that perfectly represent the terroir they are from, their vintage harvest year or the unique experience you get from sipping a single barrel Cognac.

Taken from one single barrel, one cru and one particular vintage, this charismatic Cognac from the Maison Park delivers a consistent and complex collection of flavors with every sip you take, a true “snapshot” of the fruitful yield harvested almost 15 years ago.

The name, Cellar no. 8, comes from the particular cellar where the oldest barrels are stored on the Tessendier estate, a precious gem found amongst their ever-expanding single barrel private collection.

Hints of butterscotch and ripe stone fruits that immediately hit the senses, with aromas of oak spice lingering on the nose thanks to its many years spent maturing in Limousin casks.

On the palate, this single barrel Borderies beauty has a round and supple mouthfeel, with flavors of fresh, sweet peaches and fruit jelly, a hint of poached pear and light baking spices that add a touch of warmth. Almond and brown sugar linger before a lengthy finish of oak and toffee, offering a nutty, sweet finale.

Presentation of the Bottle

With the "hand-written" labelling and elegant wooden case for storage, gifting or display purposes, this elegant design is a classic choice by Cognac Park and sits well alongside others from the estate. Its wooden-colored stopper and matching sleeve mirror the single oak cask this Borderies 2006 vintage has been chosen from. A unique drinking experience preserved within a timeless bottle.

How to Enjoy

Cognac Park offer a pleasurable pairing to this Cognac on their website, suggesting a dessert of banana fritters with a hot chocolate sauce and macadamia nut brittle.

The fruity and nutty aromas of this Borderies Cognac are accented by the soft, sweet banana and macadamia, whereas the chocolate sauce combined with the sweet butterscotch flavors of the Cognac adds a final sweet touch, resulting in a delectable digestif that’s sure to please your palate!

If you don’t have a sweet tooth, why not enjoy this Borderies Single Barrel with a freshly pressed cafetiere of Arabica coffee, perhaps with a square of 80% dark chocolate to finish off a meal nicely.
