Description
Grosperrin Vintage 1972 Fins Bois Cognac
The Grosperrin Fins Bois 1972 Cognac is a remarkable spirit from the Baignes Sainte Radegonde region. This Cognac was harvested in 1972 and distilled in the early days of 1973. It has been meticulously aged in state-controlled ORECO cellars, ensuring the authenticity of its vintage.
Spending almost 30 years in the cool conditions of a cellar located just 4 km from Cognac, this Fins Bois Cognac has undergone significant natural evaporation, losing 50% of its initial volume to the angels' share. This slow aging process has concentrated its flavors and aromas, making it a unique and exceptional Cognac.
Raphael, aged 6, an early taster invited to give his opinion on the aromas of this Cognac, spontaneously recognized smells of peach and candied apricot. Further nosing reveals delicate hints of blond tobacco and ginger, contributing to its complex and inviting profile. On the palate, it offers a smooth and rich experience, with a well-balanced sweetness and a touch of spice.

About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
