Grosperrin Organic 2010 Folle Blanche Fins Bois Cognac: a Rare Single Vintage
This very rare cognac has been produced exclusively from the Folle Blanche grape - a variety which was once the traditional grape variety of the Cognac and Armagnac regions of France. Today it accounts for only about 1% of grapes grown in this region. The wines used for the Grosperrin Organic 2010 Folle Blanche Fins Bois Cognac came from a small plot of land used for organic farming in the village of Herpes, near Courbillac. This organic single vintage Cognac is presented at a cask strength of 46.8% ABV, giving it a fantastically sweet, full-bodied palate and intense aromas.
Grosperrin Cognac was created in 1992 by Cognac broker and merchant, Jean Grosperrin. After working in the wine industry for many years, Jean had created valuable relationships with winegrowers in Cognac, and contacts through which he could purchase some of the oldest and most sought after eaux-de-vies that had been produced over the decades in Charente. Today the house is still very much a family affair, being run by Guilhem Grosperrin since 2004. Grosperrin Cognacs are strictly controlled, with dates and vintages being fully traceable.
Presentation of the Bottle
The Grosperrin Organic 2010 Folle Blanche Fins Bois Cognac comes in a stylish, tall bottle with a thick base, slim neck and wood-topped cork. The package is completed by a stylish presentation box with the Grosperrin name prominently displayed. It’s certainly the perfect gift for anyone with a 2010 anniversary.
How to Enjoy
To fully appreciate the individuality of this vintage Cognac, we suggest enjoying it neat in a tulip glass - after letting it rest for 30 seconds to develop fully. A dash of water may be added to lower the alcohol percentage and allow the aromas to open up further.
About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
