Eye: Old gold color with stunning amber highlights.

Nose: distinct and delightful spicy and floral tension, which perfectly showcases the enigmatic Sainte-Sévère terroir.

Palate: The taste is lively, clear, and refreshing with a mineral and fruity flavor profile. It is a dry cognac, with a long and peppery finish that leaves a pleasant aftertaste.

Grosperrin 1980 Fins Bois

This exceptional 1980 Fins Bois by Grosperrin originates from a small, family-owned estate founded in 1930 by the father of the winegrower's widow, who sadly passed away in 2009. The estate is located in the picturesque commune of Sainte Sévère, situated on the border of Fins Bois and Borderies, on a rare clay-siliceous soil enriched with flint. The year 1980 was marked by an unusually harsh winter with extreme cold, reaching temperatures as low as -10°C during the harvest season, famously known as the "vendanges en moufles". Despite the challenging weather conditions, this limited production cognac was crafted with utmost care and skill, resulting in a highly sought-after vintage with exceptional flavor and aroma. Every sip of this cognac is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the winemaker and the unique terroir of the region.

How to enjoy

Enjoy this Cognac neat, or with a splash of water to fully appreciate the complexity of its flavors and to slightly reduce the ABV 53.3%

About Grosperrin Cognac

The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.

Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
