Description
Drouet Small Batch 2010 Cognac: a Worthy Experiment
An intriguing release of Cognac from the House of Drouet, stemming from a parcel of the Grande Garenne and distilled in 2010. The Drouet Small Batch 2010 Cognac was the result of a double maturing process: this very limited series of Petite Champagne 2010 was first aged in Cognac casks before being matured for 9 months in casks that had contained Pacherenc du Vic Bilh, a dessert wine from south-west France similar in style to Sauternes. Only 600 bottles have produced, presented at a cask strength of 45% ABV.
The Drouet family estate is located just five miles from the town of Cognac, in the village of Salles d’Angles. Aside from vineyards, a distillery and a tasting cellar, the family also maintain a laboratory and bottling plant to ensure they can craft their distinct Cognacs from start to finish. Like many producers, Drouet Cognac favor the Ugni Blanc grape, with a small addition of Colombard for added complexity. The wines used for distilling is slightly acidic with a low alcoholic strength of 8-9%, which gives a lower yield but a much more flavorful result.
Fourth-generation distiller Patrick Drouet continue the traditions of his parents, grandparents and great-grandfather, using their knowledge combined with modern technology to maintain a Cognac character that honor their terroir, expertise and traditions.
Presentation of the Bottle
The sturdy bottle perfectly combines classic design details with a modern profile. The thick base, wood-topped stopper and detailed label give a sense of luxury, and the accompanying presentation tube makes this a wonderful gift for any Cognac lover.
How to Enjoy Drouet Small Batch 2010 Cognac
This Cognac is best enjoyed as a digestif with a drop of water to fully bring out the most delicate aromas. After pouring, allow your Cognac to rest for 30 seconds, letting the flavours concentrate and fully develop before taking a sip.
