Description
A Fine Vintage Cognac from 1983
Crafted in a vineyard in the Verrieres region, this Vintage is a fine ode to the Grande Champagne cru. The Delamain Millesime Vintage 1983 Cognac has been made with 32-year-old eaux-de-vie which have been sleeping in the cellars of Delamain. Bottled in 2015, it is a strictly limited edition with only 163 bottles available worldwide. This exceptional Millésime is lively and fruity, with the desired rancio often found with extra-special Grande Champagne Cognacs.
The production of single-year Vintages has revolutionized the Cognac world, but that hasn’t always been the case. Their production was officially forbidden in the sixties, although Delamain continued to produce them regardless. Although they weren’t allowed to sell their bottles, they kept the faith in such rare Cognac production. Since the end of the eighties, they have appeared on the market once more, and are a truly rare and high-quality bottling.
Delamain selects only the finest of eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne, also known as the ‘Premier Cru’. They are matured under optimal conditions in old oak barrels, and the distillation is carried out gradually. The chalky soil and maritime climate make this small but iconic piece of land the key to producing some of the finest Cognacs in history. Delamain is all about tradition. The family business is one of the oldest in the region, dating back to 1762. Today, the brand still honors the reputation of the ‘Grande Champagne’ by producing stand-out Cognacs.
