Description
Vintage 1983 40 Years Collection Pléiade Delamain
The Vintage 1983 40 Years Collection Pléiade Delamain Cognac is a rare and exceptional expression, limited to just 300 bottles. This exquisite Cognac hails from a distillery located in Verrières, nestled in the prestigious Grande Champagne region, known as the premier cru of Cognac. Harvested under the challenging weather conditions of 1983, this eau-de-vie was forged in a year marked by a cold winter, a scorching summer, and a significant July storm. Despite these adversities, Maison Delamain presents an extraordinary vintage that epitomizes the finesse and elegance characteristic of Grande Champagne Cognacs.
Aged for 40 years to reach its full maturity, this Cognac has developed remarkable complexity in 350L "roux" barrels made of Limousin oak, known for preserving the authenticity and typicity of old Cognacs. It began its aging journey in a sealed barrel, stored in chai N°5 in Jarnac, a dry, south-facing cellar that allowed the concentration of the Cognac's aromas. Later transferred to Delamain's vintage cellar in 2010 under the careful supervision of Cellar Master Dominique Touteau, the controlled environment enhanced its finesse and elegance, characteristic of the house's expertise.
Unfiltered, and with no added sugar or color, this Cognac reveals a pure and unadulterated representation of the 1983 vintage. On the nose, it entices with intense fruity notes of apricot and walnut, layered with the subtle elegance of white flowers. The palate offers a complex interplay of bitter orange peel, quince jam, lychees, and figs, enriched by delicate spicy undertones. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering spice and fruit that leave a lasting impression.
