Description
A 2004 Vintage Cognac from Petit Champagne
The Comandon Single Cask Vintage 2004 is a rare, limited edition Cognac from the prestigious Petit Champagne terroir. Rather than blending a combination of Cognacs, the cell masters at Comandon have delivered this Single Cask Vintage 2004 through a single cask maturation process, whereby one particular cru is left untouched for several years and then bottled years later when aging has peaked its optimal. As one can assume through its name, this particular eaux-de-vie was carefully selected to be bottled in the year 2004. This Comandon Vintage Cognac is a wonderful, singular expression of the prestigious Petite Champagne, that is renowned for its finesse.
Comandon Single Cask
At Comandon the aging process is approached with nothing but pure passion and careful attention. One single cru is stored in old oak casks for a number of years (new casks are used only with the first year of aging). The oak casks are from different regions, including Limousin, Tronçais, Allier, and are lightly toasted. Casks are often restored and used again, so it is common that single casks are the same distillate but are matured in different casks throughout their lives.
Presentation of the bottle
Presentation is very important to Comandon and the quirky graphic illustration on the label reflects this so well. The bottle arrives in a stylish presentation sleeve, making the bottle look even more sleek and desirable too. Its sleek presentation and exclusive vintage quality combine perfectly in forming a generous gift that is sure to be appreciated by even the greatest of Cognac aficionado’s.
How to enjoy the Comandon 2004 Petite Champagne Vintage
When it comes to serving a vintage, single cask of this nature, the art of simplicity is favoured and it is best to let the eaux-de-vie do the talking by serving it neat.
About Comandon Cognac
Comandon is an independent Cognac house that continue to control all of their production in-house. Their philosophy lies in uniting traditional elegance and two centuries of savoir-faire with modernity and pushing the boundaries, which can be seen in their bespoke branding campaigns and unique internet presence. Think La Dolce Vita meets Armani.
With an extremely forward-thinking marketing agenda and a particularly hands-on approach when it comes to the music and entertainment industry, Comandon have carved themselves an interesting space for a niche approach to the Cognac business.
They do an exceptional job of producing small, artisanal batches that offer rare and limited glimpses into one particular terroir, or one exceptional harvest, whether the eaux-de-vie are younger or older. For this reason, they defy tradition in the Cognac world, who believe that “older is better” and producing the same Cognac year in, year out is the end objective. Comandon instead work in tandem with nature, initiating unique collaborations for their single cask collection, and never fearing experimentation.
With a history dating back around 200 years, the Cognac house continue to produce excellent Cognac and receive top-notch awards.
