Eye: Translucent pale gold.

Nose: A floral bouquet, typical of the Borderies region with overtones of dried fruits and delicious sweet spiced notes of anise and vanilla.

Palate: The initial attack is soft and well-rounded, dominated by a fine tannin structure. There are dried fruit and subtle toasted notes present on the palate, it is also surprisingly fiery for such a young vintage but perfectly balanced. The finish is persistent and marked by the oak, which has a roasted character to it, but still maintains flattering sweet nuances.

Description

Bache Gabrielsen Vintage Pure & Rustic Borderies Single Estate 1995

This edition to Bache Gabrielsen’s Pure & Rustic range is a limited edition, single estate vintage Cognac. Made in collaboration with "Bouilleur de Cru" Madame Marie Madeleine Vaillant in the village of Cherac, the eaux-de-vie used in the Cognac has come solely from the grapes grown on her three hectare farm in the smallest district of Borderies. The wine from the grapes was distilled in 1995 and has been aging in Limousin oak casks since that day. Only 850 bottles are available, making this a rare addition to any collection.

The Pure & Rustic range from Bache Gabrielsen has been produced by Cellar Master Jean-Philippe Bergier in close collaboration with a number of experienced distillers across the Cognac region. The collection has a modern style to it and invites you to experience a light and fresh Cognac with rich fruitiness and associations to the rural life of the region.

Presentation of the bottle:

The bottle is of a bold and contemporary shape, reflecting the modern positioning of the Cognac. The label features the story of the Cognac House’s conception below the striking and minimalist logo and product information.

Within the Pure & Rustic series, bottles bare either blue or white labels. If the label is white, which is the case here, Bache Gabrielsen guarantees that only a limited edition has been bottled and that all bottles are numbered.

About Bache Gabrielsen Cognac

Bache-Gabrielsen is a medium-sized family Cognac house with an international history. The company was created in 1905, and so it celebrated its 100th anniversary in the last few years. With its clean design, Cognac Bache-Gabrielsen takes an important position in the Cognac market, exporting mainly to Scandinavian countries. Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, the fourth generation at the head of the company, is certainly aware that the Cognac industry is undergoing changes, with the international market being heavily developed and marketing strategies refined to cater for a younger, more fashionable consumer base. Given the size of the company compared to the major cognac houses, it is surprising to discover that this Norwegian cognac brand is the market leader in the sale of Cognac in Norway!
