Description
A De Fussigny Millésime 1970: a Sublime Journey
The A De Fussigny Millésime 1970 Vintage Cognac is one of a small range of superb vintages from this craft Cognac house. This single vintage is created from Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie, and has been bottled at a slightly over-proof, 43%. The expertise of the Cellar Master is truly showcased in this wonderful offering, with its flavors, aromas, and the much sought after rancio taking the taster on a journey that can only be described as sublime.
The Ugni Blanc grapes for this release were harvested in a single year, making this a fabulous snapshot of the Petite Champagne region in a time gone by. After a cold, wet, start to the season, conditions improved greatly during the summer of 1970 and produced one of the largest harvests on record. Best of all, the combination of rainfall and sunshine created grapes with a wonderful depth of flavor and optimal acidity.
Located on the banks of the Charente river, the A de Fussigny estate's distillery and cellars date back to 1814, rich in a history of traders passing by on barges, transporting the precious eaux-de-vie and wine that have made this region so famous. The 200-year-old cellars here allow the aging process to take place in a stable humid environment, during which the Cognac can develop all the character and quality which represent the hallmarks of this brand.
Presentation of the Bottle
The presentation is delightfully simple, yet oozes luxury. A traditional-style Cognac bottle, whose only nod to the delights hidden within is the label that clearly states its year of birth. This is then encased in a top-quality wooden presentation case - perfectly chosen to showcase the bottle held within. This vintage Cognac would be the perfect choice as a gift for the connoisseur, or indeed, for anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.
How to Enjoy
We recommend you enjoy this fine vintage neat in a tulip glass, sipped slowly to fully capture every delicate aroma. Make sure to save it for when you have the time to truly savor all the sensory delights it offers.
About A de Fussigny Cognac
Located in the historical center of Cognac, France, A de Fussigny Cognac was established in 1814 on the banks of the iconic Charente River. The brand pushes the idea of modern luxury, incorporating tradition, authenticity and craftsmanship with modernity and innovation. The estate's 200-year-old cellar has a particularly humid environment thanks to its proximity to the river, meaning the maturation process produces a high quality and unique character to Fussigny’s Cognac. Using ancestral expertise and savoir-faire, the estate's seasoned cellar master blends the finest selection of eaux-de-vie to produce a particular finesse to each flavor, adding a complex character to each individual Cognac.
