Forgeron Barrique 2.1 Cognac is like all of Michel Forgeron's Cognacs – made up of prestigious Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie. Having spent almost 20 years aging in French oak barrels in the cellars of Domaine Michel Forgeron, it has been patiently reduced through the method of adding distilled water for an alcoholic degree of 47%. The result offers the perfect compromise between preservation of taste, aroma and power in the mouth. Presenting blissful nuances of iris, vanilla and okoumé essence, it is a full and floral Cognac with great depth and finesse on the palate.
Michel and Francine Forgeron have been passionately developing, since 1965, elegant, authentic products of exceptional quality. Today the Cognac house is anchored by its younger generations as Pierre and Christophe have taken the brand in the direction of modern and environmentally conscious standards, favoring the use of sustainable viticulture and renewable energy.
Such a well-matured Cognac like this one deserves to be tasted in its purest form which means – neat, at room temperature. By serving from a tulip glass, you’ll get the fullest tasting experience as the narrow neck of this type of glass allows the aromas to evolve evenly. Pair with a fine cigar of your choice to prolong the tasting even further.
Flavour profile
A bold, floral Grande Champagne. Iris and vanilla with an unusual okoume-wood note, then a very full, floral palate. Characterful and a little different, in the best way.
Amber with some copper highlights. Gentle floral notes, very pleasant. The abv is very apparent, not a burn, but certainly warm, a good cognac for accentuating a dessert. An acceptable finish.

Michel Forgeron Cognac’s uniqueness lies in its very special history, its environmental concern and of course in its quest for quality. With a relatively young history, the first cognac under the brand Michel Forgeron was produced in 1977. Their philosophy remains the same as his grandfather’s, who bought the agricultural property at the turn of the century: work better, produce better. Recently, for its hundred year anniversary, Forgeron covered one of the estate’s roofs with solar panels in order to work with sustainable energies for the cognac production.
