Description
Mauxion Borderies Lot 14: 100 Years of Complexity
This unique Borderies Cognac has been bottled from a single cask, in which it was aged for around a century. The Mauxion Borderies Lot 14 is presented at a cask strength of 41.2% (‘brut de fut’) and has not been chill-filtered - in order to preserve its most delicate aromas. The result is an outstanding mature Cognac with rich notes of violet, toasted nuts and a harmony that only age can give.
The origin of the Mauxion family goes back to 1575 when Pierre Mauxion was born in the village of Houlette, still home to the Mauxion family after thirteen generations. Antoine Mauxion was the first of the family to produce eaux-de-vie, back in 1743, and since then ten generations have followed in his traditions of caring for the vineyard, making wine and distilling in a traditional copper pot still.
Uniquely, Mauxion Selection offers a range of single crus in different sizes, including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. To preserve their flavor fully, they are bottled at cask strength and without any blending and the long maturation these Cognacs go through allow them to develop exceptional complexity and depth.
Presentation of the Bottle
The stunning decanter certainly does the liquid justice, with its classic tall shape and a handmade bauble-shaped glass stopper. A metal plaque carries the credentials of the brand, and a simple wooden presentation box completes the package. All Mauxion bottles are numbered and presented with a certificate from the producer stating the origin of the Cognac.
How to Enjoy
This is a rare Cognac to celebrate special moments. Regardless of when you choose to drink it, we suggest sipping it slowly from a tulip glass, potentially adding a few drops of water to open up the palate.
