Nose: Dessert in a glass. Chocolate, oak spice, and fruit. The fruit profile is redder in nature than typically associated with Grande Champagne Cognacs (and very different from Casks 301 and 104). Dried plums, figs, dates, red raisins, and fruit pastes. Good richness but has a sharpness from the oak and the red nature of the fruit. Savoury. A beautiful albeit atypical nose! One to contemplate!

Palate: Flavor-rich and texture-rich. Sweet and sour. Dried and candied red fruit profile: pastes, figs, dried plums, and other candied fruits - but each with red tones. Chocolate and spice. Oak tannins and red apple skin bitterness. The alcohol level is well managed.

Finish: Oak tannins, apple skin bitterness, and more typical mango and apricot fruits appear on the finish. Long, persistent.

Description

Laurichesse Fût 300

Laurichesse Fût 300 Cognac is a brut de fût Cognac bottled at 49% and originating from the same cellar as Laurichesse’s iconic Fût 301 and Fût 104. Having spent its aging process in a Limousin oak barrel, this Cognac was bottled just in the nick of time. There are only 140 bottles are available, making it a rare and exclusive offering not to be missed. And with a blissfully unique aromatic profile to enjoy, you’ll want to savor this one down to every last drop.

A tasting explosion, Fût 300 is like dessert in a glass, with notes of chocolate, oak spice and fruit. With beautifully rich flavor and texture, a sweet and sour contrast prevails with a dried and red fruit profile on the palate. Offering a unique profile for its Grande Champagne cru, and compared with other Cognacs in the Laurichesse, this Cognac unveils traces similar to Armagnac with its dried/candied reddish fruit aromas and nuances of heavily sherried whisky alongside the sweet and sour, savoury fruit and oak profile. Delicious!

Bottled as ‘Hommage’, this range is called Le Chai de mon Père (‘The Cellar of My Father’). Each barrel of vintage eau-de-vie has been carefully selected and bottled in its natural condition to highlight Guy's work skills and quality. It certainly gives a fantastic insight into the individual character of small-scale Cognac production.

Presentation of the bottle

Tall and elegant with a slim profile and deep punt, this well-designed bottle immediately catches the eye. The label is simple, printed on textured paper with hand-written details, including the cask and bottle number. For sales purposes in different countries, the bottles have been renamed Le Chai de Mon Pere, this has been reflected on the bottles themselves by adding a sticker on the label.

How to enjoy

This is one to take your time with, as the perfect end to a meal or a long day. Let the Cognac breathe in a tulip glass before taking a sip, neat at room temperature. Savor the taste of sunny days when the vineyards of the Premier Cru flourished in the first stages of producing this fine offering.
