Jean Fillioux 16 years old Grande Champagne Cognac: Rare Elegance
This Premier Cru Cognac has been aged for a minimum of 16 years in French oak casks before being bottled in October 2020 at 41.8% ABV. The Jean Fillioux 16 years old Grande Champagne Cognac is a stunning example of terroir, displaying delicate notes of peaches and plums alongside rich spices and cocoa. Only a limited number of 1,500 bottles have been released, making this a ‘must-have’ for any collector.
Founded in 1880 by Honoré Fillioux, the House of Filioux is now run by his great-grandson Pascal. The famous Domaine de La Pouyade - their 63-acre family vineyards - lie in the ‘golden triangle’ of Grande Champagne, between the Angeac-Champagne, Juillac-le-Coq and Verrières communes. For five generations the family have been tending to the soil here, growing Ugni Blanc grapes which produce wines that are low in alcohol and tannins, but high in acidity - the perfect combination for distilling flavorful eaux-de-vie. The micro terroir of the golden triangle has for a long time been regarded to produce the finest parcels of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, but only with the aid of extended aging to reach their full potential. This is how Jean Fillioux Réserve Familiale Cognac typifies the very best Cognac has to offer: exceptional terroir combined with good age. It doesn’t get better than that.
Fillioux Cognac is famous for being an intimate, small-scale family production - and indeed, Pascal Fillioux oversees everything from the soil and the grapevines to the distillation and bottling. Carrying on skills that have been passed down from generation to generation, his estate belongs to a select group of family-owned Cognac producers that have maintained an appreciation for quality and centuries-old traditions. Thanks to Pascal’s dedication and unwavering loyalty, the House of Fillioux continue to create true masterpieces of Cognac to this day.

How to Enjoy
Pour into a tulip glass and allow the Cognac to rest for a moment before taking a sip; this will allow the most complex aromas to develop for a fuller tasting experience. For an added element of luxury, enjoy alongside a cigar or an espresso after dinner.
Will buy more
Very nice cognac, got 2 bottles first and than another one, very smooth taste, great XXO!
I got to know one of Jean Fillioux Cognac a few years ago. There was not much left in the bottle. The few drops were enough to keep it in my memory for a long time.
Actually, I was looking for Jean Fillioux Cognac and I came across the site of Cognac-Expert. In the meantime, I am a big fan of the numerous reports and detailed information that can be found on your site.
Now to the Jean Fillioux 16 years old Grande Champagne Cognac:
The nose is pleased by complex aromas consisting of ripe fruits, especially plums, coffee beans and a hint of fine woods.
A special experience develops on the palate. This Cognac, with its alcohol content of 41.8 percent, tingles and dances on the tongue - similar to staccato sounds - without harming the taste. On the contrary, it is round, complex and noble, with very good and long finish.
This cognac thrills me, I enjoy every drop and will certainly buy more bottle of it.
Ruled by plums
A very good craft cognac from the Jean Fillioux estate, I've been following this brand for a long time and it's rare to see a bottle of this XXO rated cognac, so I'll give it a try.
It was a wonderful experience, closed in by the plums, a very different kind of pleasure, and I really appreciate the Jean Fillioux blend.
Thanks to the Cognac expert for the special presentation on the pleasures of Cognac.
