Hine Réserve du Paradis Early Landed Lot 1978 Cognac

Thomas Hine and Co was founded in Jarnac in 1763 and remains one of the very few houses to specialise almost entirely in Grande Champagne cognacs from its own old reserves, holding a Royal Warrant as a supplier of cognac. This bottling belongs to the Réserve du Paradis selection, a small parcel drawn from the house's oldest stocks, with a guaranteed minimum age of around twenty years. Aged in England in the Early Landed tradition, it shows the lighter, more floral character that made the house famous in Britain.

This is an Early Landed cognac. The young eaux-de-vie of this lot were shipped to England and matured in the cool, damp cellars of Bristol. That maritime ageing slows the oak extraction and the loss of strength, preserving a paler colour and a lighter, more floral and delicate style than cognacs kept in the Charente.

Presentation of the bottle

Presented in 70cl at 40% vol. in a wooden gift box. The bottle carries the classic Hine label with the red stag emblem, the Maison fondée en 1763 line and a bronze Grande Champagne medallion at the shoulder.

How to drink

Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, which gathers the delicate aromatics towards the rim. Enjoy it slowly after a meal, without ice, to let the rancio and the fruit unfold.
