Description

Grosperrin N° 72 Grande Champagne Cognac

Grosperrin N° 72 Grande Champagne Cognac is the unique result of blending two very fine Cognacs of the same vintage year yet produced on two different farms of the Grande Champagne cru. One of the Cognacs that makes up this offering was produced in St Fort Sur le Né; meanwhile, the other was created on a farm in Merpins. Both locations are home to two retired winegrowers that had kept and preserved the eaux-de-vie of the years, holding sentimental value.

This eaux-de-vie was purchased several years apart, and the blending of these two batches was done unexpectedly on the day of delivery (sometimes the volumes purchased differ significantly from the volumes delivered), for reasons of space, after a quick tasting.

Over time, the marriage of these two Cognacs gave way to an unexpected and oh-so delightful result. Hence why Grosperrin has bottled it up as Grosperrin N° 72 Grande Champagne Cognac (in very limited quantities) for the public to taste.

The house of Grosperrin collaborates with more than 150 local Cognac businesses spread across all six of the Cognac growing areas. In total, Grosperrin has contact with almost 4,300 farms which make up the rich and diverse grapes of the Cognac region. With years of buying and selling expertise under its belt, the house of Grosperrin sources the finest eaux-de-vie the region has to offer. This is done all in the hope of achieving their ultimate ambition of achieving the finest expressions of the terroir.

Presentation of the bottle

Displayed in a contemporary decanter, the presentation of Grosperrin N° 72 Grande Champagne Cognac offers a touch of tradition through the bottle's heavy base and long slim neck. Stamped with the Grosperrin brand label, the bottle illustrates the vigorous detail that has gone into producing such a rare and special Cognac.

The regal gold color of the eaux-de-vie inside, alongside the bottle’s elegant form, allows this Cognac to sit beautifully as a table centerpiece or amongst others in the drinks cabinet.

How to enjoy

Sip and savor the tasting experience by serving this vintage Cognac in a tulip glass, as the slim neck of this glass allows the aromas to evolve and develop in blissful harmony. Leave the Cognac to breathe for a few minutes before immersing your senses in the delightful rare eaux-de-vie before you.

About Grosperrin Cognac

The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.

Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
