Description
Grosperrin Heritage N°77 Fins Bois Cognac
The Grosperrin Heritage N°77 Fins Bois Cognac is a rare and meaningful expression, originating from a small estate in the village of Aujac, Charente Maritime. Distilled decades ago, this Cognac was carefully preserved by its original owner and later passed down to his daughter, a passionate viticulturist and nursery owner. As the final lot in the family’s cellar, this Cognac holds a special legacy, encapsulating the dedication and craftsmanship of her father’s work. In the last year, it was transferred to a stainless steel vat to minimize the angel’s share, protecting its rare, treasured character.
On the nose, Heritage N°77 reveals a refined, discreet elegance, with a liveliness that belies its age. The palate opens smoothly, delivering an impeccable balance that softens and deepens with each sip. Mid-palate, flavors of candied apricot, plum, and liquorice emerge, lending a rich, almost dessert-like sweetness. The finish is warm, lingering, and invites further tasting. An exceptional Cognac in every sense, Heritage N°77 is subtly complex and undeniably rare.
Note: This Cognac has a slight obscuration, suggesting it may have received an additive, such as "boisé," during its aging process, which is uncommon for the Grosperrin collection. However, this nuance adds depth without detracting from its quality.
Presentation of the bottle
The Grosperrin Heritage N°77 is presented in an elegant, understated bottle that reflects its refined character and rarity. Accompanied by a simple yet sophisticated box, it’s a distinguished addition to any collector’s selection.
How to drink
This Cognac is best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass to fully appreciate its layers of aroma and flavor. Pair it with mild cheeses or dried fruits for a complementary experience that brings out its subtle sweetness and complexity. Ideal for contemplative sipping, Heritage N°77 invites you to savor each taste.
About Grosperrin Cognac
The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.
Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
