Eye: Yellow, light and bright at first glance. Golden hues come through once opened up and left to breathe.

Nose: Initially a light and discrete nose that seems to hold nothing remarkable or distinctive. Once left to aerate the nose develops and comes through the glass. Floral aromas mix with the darker coffee notes and cigar fumes coming through. Along with a mix of sweet vanilla, bitter yellow fruits and mocha to balance the nose off and give it some punch.

Palate: More floral notes coming through the palate on first taste. The mouthfeel is fresh and punchy with a light fruit/floral taste, reminiscent of apricots with a delicate jasmine aftertaste. The whole palate is highlighted by a light and fragrant woody finish that ties together all the other flavors and demonstrates the quality of this cognac.

Description

A Cognac from the Bons Bois terroir aged at least 10 years

Jean Doussoux’s award-winning distillery produces some of the finest Cognacs in the region of Charente and has been doing so since 1865. The vineyards produce Cognac unique in flavor and consistent in quality. The Domaine de Chene Folle Blanche Cognac is a smooth yet punchy bottle of 40% alcohol, single grape Cognac.

The term ‘Folle Blanche’ describes the grape variety that was planted originally during the 16th century in the region of La Rochelle, Charente.

Blended by Jean-Marie Baillif, it takes its eaux-de-vie from the Bons Bois terroir, which is generally earthier. The Domaine du Chene has been working for more than 15 years to protect the environment with their Cognac production, all the way from the vine until it is bottled with “responsible” viticulture techniques.

Presentation of the bottle

The 70cl decanter is in the classic Jean Doussoux style, with a large base and a short neck. The label is a classy all white with gold lettering across the Jean Doussoux label, and branding printed on the front. It is proofed at 40% ABV.

How to serve

Enjoy this Cognac neat, at room temperature to allow the aromas to develop. Also, try this Cognac over ice.
