Eye: Blazing amber.

Nose: A full-bodied and complex aroma. Elegant fresh notes of oranges blend harmoniously with hints of almond and expensive tobacco.

Palate: This well aged Cognac has a strong personality with an all-consuming taste, offering noble tones of walnut and oak decorated with delicate notes of minerals. The resilience and presence of the finish is remarkable and gradually reveals more and more faces, a real pleasure.

Description

Bowen XO Gold'n Black

Cognac Bowen was founded by Louis Olivier Chabasse and motivated by love and adventure. Louis Chabasse was a descendant of Jean Baptiste Chabasse who founded the Cognac Chabasse distillery in 1818. Louis took over the House at the beginning of the 20th century and took Cognac Chabasse on his travels around the globe, leading him to meet a beautiful young woman called Elisabeth Bowen in India. Inspired by her free spirit, love of nature and charisma, Louis returned to France to create the first blend of Cognac Bowen in her honour.

René Luc Chabasse runs the Chabasse Cognac House today. With a desire to capture the history of his family, he restored the romantic Bowen blend and also developed a whole line of Cognac under the brand Bowen which is now renowned for its exquisite taste and luxurious design.

Bowen Gold’n Black is an interpretation of the mature Bowen XO Cognac, having also been created using a beautiful blend of eaux-de-vie that have been harvested across the Borderies and Fine Champagne crus. Gold’n Black holds an even sturdier body however, due to its ageing of 30 years in Limousin oak barrels.

This Cognac embodies all the best traditions of House Chabasse. Not only has it been skilfully crafted to create an exquisite blend, but it has been gifted the time to become an unusually deep and complex bouquet that will be sure to impress even the most astute connoisseurs.

Presentation of the bottle:

Renowned for its lavish design, Bowen has not disappointed with this decanter. Both elegant and broad shouldered, the decanter allows this blazing amber Cognac to be admired in all its glory. The dazzling colour of the spirit provides the perfect backdrop for the classic gold lettering of the brand’s name.

The lower half of the decanter is wrapped in hand-stitched leather bearing the Bowen logo. Also featuring a sleek metal stopper, this is a stunningly sophisticated bottle.

How to enjoy:

To be enjoyed from a classic tulip shaped glass and warmed by the hand, though be careful not to fuel the fire too much and risk losing much of the palate. This indulgent Cognac would be perfectly paired with coffee and a cigar.

About Bowen Cognac

Bowen Cognac has a romantic backstory, coming into being through a man’s love for a woman combined with all the excitement of travel and intrigue. Known as much for their miniature sized cognac bottles as the regular, Bowen produces a range of different qualities, including an interesting ‘Pale Cognac’ specifically produced to be mixed with tonic or savoured on the rocks.
