Vaudon Double Cask Fins Bois Cognac is a Fins Bois blend of excellent quality. Selected exclusively from the Fins Bois, famous for its mineral-rich soils ideal for the growth of Ugni-Blanc grapes used to produce quality Cognac, the eau-de-vie of this well-aged presents unique flavours. Having aged for ten years in Limousin oak wooden barrels, Vaudon Double Cask Fins Bois Cognac was finished in “new American oak” barrels during its last leg of the aging process. A sweet and fruity Cognac, it reveals delicate notes of toasted coconut, creme brulee, tatin pie and bourbon on the nose before proceeding to nuances of vanilla, cooked banana and white fruits.
It represents a true combination of local artisnal talent alongside the interesting typicity from the American oak that releases such a unique patchwork of flavors. Maison Vaudon is run by Pierre Vaudon, who heads the renowned Cognac house, Francois Voyer. Therefore it is safe to say both brands are symbolic of sheer dedication to Cognac. Pierre demonstrates his passion, know-how and expertise through products of unrivalled quality and a family history of distillation that dates back to 1771.

Vaudon Double Cask Fins Bois Cognac is best appreciated as an after-dinner tipple in a digestive course or as an aperitif amongst guests. Its creamy and fruity notes pair perfectly with a cream or fruit based dessert.
It is always subjective impressions that are described. This cognac smells very dominantly of overripe bananas ("giraffe bananas"). I clearly taste cake and tart, the vanilla aroma used in baking. Not quite as varied and complex as Pierre Vaudon's XO and all around recommendable.
The Vaudon grounds are composed of 60 hectares with the main estate being located in Fins Bois, the largest of all the Cognac growth regions. Vaudon produces both single cru Fins Bois Cognacs and ‘multicru’ blends of these with the neighbouring Grande Champagne.
Pierre Vaudon, Maître de Chai and also owner of Maison Francois Voyer, is responsible for the Vaudon family estate. The family’s distilling origins can be traced back as far as 1771, and they have always produced outstanding Cognacs, even winning a gold medal for their 1811 vintage Cognac in 1913.
