Chateau de Montifaud Napoléon Special Cigare Cognac is a Petite Champagne blend that has been aged for between 15 and 18 years. Presented at a cask strength of 46%, it will pair beautifully with your favorite quality cigar, with its aromas of dried flowers complemented by vanilla, prunes and dried fruit. The rancio of this old Cognac appears during the long aftertaste.
This is a great example of well-aged Cognac from a classic terroir; the chalky and slightly rocky soils of the Petite Champagne produce rich, acidic Ugni Blanc grapes that are perfect for making quality eaux-de-vie. While very similar to the produce of the Grande Champagne, they are also slightly less refined and with an underlying rustic character that develops well with age. While Petite Champagne Cognacs are also great young, they truly come into their own when matured for an extended period of time, as demonstrated with this expression.
The Vallet family have been the guardians of Château de Montifaud Cognac for six generations and are today responsible for 125 hectares of vineyards across the Grande and Petite Champagne regions. Specializing in traditional production methods, the family chooses to distil only Ugni Blanc grapes and age their Cognacs much longer than required by law.
The tall, straight bottle features a heavy glass base and gold foil for a touch of luxury. The oval cream-colored label has a vintage look, contrasting with the otherwise modern design. A matching presentation tube finishes off the package, making this a great gift for any Cognac lover.
As signified on the label, this aged Cognac is an perfect match for a cigar. For people who don’t smoke, it’s still outstanding on its own or served alongside an espresso after dinner. Pour into a tulip glass and wait for a least a minute to allow the most exceptional rancio flavors to develop before you take a sip. Owned by the family Vallet for six generations, Chateau de Montifaud Cognac boasts 125 hectares of vineyards that are located in both the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne growing regions. The house produces a large, high quality range of cognacs – including various vintages from years that have had an exceptional harvest. One family tradition that Cognac Chateau Montifaud is proud to follow, is that of when a new baby boy is born to the head of the cognac house, that part of the cognac created from that year’s harvest is set to one side. This is kept for a varying number of years, but may only be sold by future generations.
