The Merlet L'esprit de Guy Cognac is something truly special. Overproof at 43.9% and 100% Fins Bois, this is a blend of an extremely old Cognac and one from 1948. And the reason for this? Well, it's a cognac created by the Merlet family to honor the legend that was Guy Merlet.
Guy was a true character in the village of St Sauvant, where the Cognac house is located. The third generation of the family, he's the father of Gilles, and grandfather of Pierre and Luc. The reason the cognac is from the Fins Bois terroirs is that this was the only 'cru' distilled by the family during Guy's lifetime. And his son, Gilles, was born in the year 1948, hence the inclusion of a Cognac from this year.
Produced from a Cognac house dating back to 1850, each Merlet creation is a beautifully balanced embodiment of history and contemporary enthusiasm. Famous for its quality Cognacs of innovation, it is a house name that you will want to familiarize yourself with. Produced in extremely limited edition, the Merlet L'esprit du Guy Cognac is a rare and desirable selection. Presented in a handcrafted, French-made, Cognacaise bottle, each is numbered and further personalized with a glass stamp from the house of Merlet. This beautiful bottle is then presented in a box made from two local kinds of wood - walnut and oak - to symbolize the peasant roots of Saintonge and the tradition of the art of Cognac.
