Godet Antarctica Icy White Cognac: Celebrating a Continent
Made from exclusively from Folle Blanche grapes, the Godet Antarctica Icy White Cognac is comprised of eaux-de-vie aged for over seven years in the oldest casks on the Godet estate. The crystal clear appearance of the Cognac has been achieved by using 100-year-old casks that have lost all their tannins, leaving virtually no color in the spirit, but instead allowing it to simply develop sweet caramel notes and ripe fruit flavors. The combination of old casks and Folle Blanche eaux-de-vie is simply outstanding, and the result is a spirit unlike anything else.
This release has been created to celebrate Jean Jacques Godet’s travels in 2008, when he embarked on a sailing trip to Antarctica accompanied by ten crew members. They landed on the Antarctic mainland 70° south of the equator, the furthest a small yacht has ever been able to dock on the inhospitable continent. A world record was broken. In honor of this accomplishment, the House of Godet was inspired to craft a unique Cognac reflecting the purity and beauty of Antarctica.
Founded in 1782, Godet Cognac ranges amongst the oldest Cognac houses. The Godet family has been based in the seaside town and former trading hub La Rochelle for 400 years and since the very beginnings of Cognac production, they have played an important role in perfecting this culture. Cognac Godet has been in the hands of the same family for an astonishing 15 generations, who have placed tradition and excellence at the heart of their business. Godet is also one of the few Cognac producers who focus on cultivating and using the Folle Blanche grape variety, the original Cognac grape.
The Godet family's expertise in wine-making results in outstanding wine and Champagne as well as Cognac - an excellent standing for a family-run company. The business is headed by Godet president Jean-Jacques Godet, assisted by his three sons Jean Eduard, Maxime and Cyril.
Presentation of the Bottle
Of course, the packaging is as modern and unusual as the spirit it contains. Presented in a square, clear glass bottle with a black cap and simple lettering on the front, the color (or lack thereof!) of the liquid inside is allowed to become the unlikely star of the show. Reminiscent of a high-end cologne, this is a bottle that will stand out in any Cognac collection and is sure to be a conversation starter.
How to Enjoy
This young eau-de-vie is perfect to enjoy with a mixer, on the rocks or ice-cold from the freezer. We particularly love using it in a Lazy Dog:
- 50ml Godet Antarctica Icy White Cognac
- 20ml Lime juice
- 15ml Triple sec
- 2 dashes Grapefruit bitters
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake hard for 30 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupette or martini glass and garnish with a thin twist of pink grapefruit peel.

Very interesting cognac!
Although many people for some reason do not recognize it as cognac, it is still a full-blooded cognac, what with the fact that the color is not the usual brownish gold. It is also difficult to classify him, in my opinion he falls between VS and vsop, both in terms of taste and price. The manufacturer...
О Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
