Coquerel

Coquerel Calvados is a producer of premium of Calvados, a traditional French spirit made from apples and pears. Coquerel has a rich history dating back to its founding by René Gilbert. Today, it is owned and operated by the Martin family, who are committed to preserving the traditional methods and high standards that have made Coquerel Calvados so well-regarded in France and around the world.

The Calvados produced at Coquerel make use of a blend of 40 different types of apples and pears to create each product's unique flavor profile, with different varieties contributing to the cider's sweetness, bitterness, and balance. The focus is on respecting the apple's inherent aroma and flavor qualities and the underlying quality of the cider, which is why the brand only uses fruit that has reached its optimal maturity and is harvested from the ground from mid-September to the end of November.

The cider is left to ferment for a minimum of 21 days and is then distilled on the lees and then aged in nine different cellars, each with different temperatures and humidity levels - all of which play a vital role in the development of the Calvados aging in barrel.

The cellar master plays a key role in ensuring that the flavors of the apples are not masked by the wood, but are instead enhanced and magnified.

The result is a complete range of premium Calvados, each with a rich, complex flavor profile and a long, smooth finish.
