A true treasure
Exceptional 95 /100
This is a 1922 Grande Champagne blended with 1924 to get the percentage to 40%. As all cognacs in Grosperrin's "Treasor" series it is very good.
This cognac has a deep dark cognac, and it has a beautiful hang in the glass with distinct tears. At first it is a bit shy on the nose, you need to give it some time. When it opens up vanilla is the first I find. After that I find wood, mature fruit and darker tones of leather, chocolate and coffee. In mouth it is unusually mild. You can't notice the alcohol at all. There is a lot of taste that spreads calmly in the entire mouth. Elegant is a word I think of when tasting this. The concentration is high. This cognac is very down to earth without any side tracks. Spices find their way to the tip of the tongue. The finish is tasteful and very long. This is a beautiful cognac. I still prefer No 24, but the distinction is small. Unfortunately this cognac is sold out. Buy it if you find it.

Don’t just swallow it down; allow the liquid to touch all the regions of the mouth. Doing this is necessary as the taste buds pick up contrasting flavours in the different areas of the mouth; on the tip of your tongue to the sides, for example. Take a tiny sip to prep your palate for the sensory experience to come. Take a second larger sip, and gently roll the cognac around, etting it come into contact with every corner of your mouth. Focus on the perceived textural sensations. Are the sensations round and rich or fresh and elegant? Is the overall mouthfeel intense, balanced, disjointed, or lacking presence? In short, how does the cognac feel in your mouth?
