The nose is a delight. Lots going on. The first things that jump out are leather, tobacco, and fruitcake. There is certainly a good showing of rancio here. Jasmine and fruit blossoms are hiding softly underneath. This Cognac has a decent amount of fruit aroma's, as well. The palate mimics the nose with the deep, rich flavors and lots of barrel spices. I think perhaps for my palate just a little too much on the spice. You can tell this is a higher ABV than the standard 40 proof as it feels a touch hot. The finish is very surprising. Up front it's all spice, but then, after several minutes, there's a wonderful flavor of roses that was left on my tongue.
