A new experience

I have never tasted any cognac from this producer before. It is therefore with great curiousity I taste this on Day 8 of the Advent Calendar.
Comandon has a 200 year long history. They are not too focused on traditional cognacs, they focus more on small lots and special editions. This cognac consists of cognac from both Grande Champagne, Fins Bois and Bons Bois. The last finishing is done in an old wine barrel from Mageaux.
This cognac has an amber color and has a light hang in the glass. It is very fresh on the nose with clear hints of orange and strawberry jam. In the mouth the first impression is surprisingly young. At second taste the impression is somewhat improved. It is very tasty with a lot of fruit and spices. It lacks some body. The aftertaste is not very impressive. For me this was more interesting than a fantastic cognac experience. I became more curious on this producer and will spend some more time to learn more about them.

Doing this is necessary as the taste buds pick up contrasting flavours in the different areas of the mouth; on the tip of your tongue to the sides, for example. Take a tiny sip to prep your palate for the sensory experience to come. Take a second larger sip, and gently roll the cognac around, etting it come into contact with every corner of your mouth. Focus on the perceived textural sensations. Are the sensations round and rich or fresh and elegant? Is the overall mouthfeel intense, balanced, disjointed, or lacking presence? In short, how does the cognac feel in your mouth?
