Meukow 1862 Esprit de Famille Cognac
This réserve blend has been created using eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne, with at least 51% of the blend sourced from the Premier Cru. The Meukow 1862 Esprit de Famille is a Fine Champagne Cognac of exceptional quality, blended from some of the oldest casks in the Paradise Cellar at the House of Meukow. The French name translates to ‘family spirit’, alluding to the generations that the casks have spent maturing, passed through the family until the moment has come to reveal this age-old spirit to the world. Only 2,000 bottles have been produced of this limited edition.
The history of Meukow dates back to the mid-19th Century when brothers Gustav and August-Christophe Meukow from Silesia were sent to France in order to procure Cognac for the Russian Tsar Alexander II. After years of searching for the finest eaux-de-vie, they eventually decided to set up their own distillery in 1862. At first, their only customer was the Tsar himself, but the two brothers soon began to make Cognac of considerable quality, winning over the hearts of people around the world. Today, Meukow Cognac is available in over 80 countries. Cellar Master Anne Sarteaux has been with Meukow since 2007, preserving the traditional expertise that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Since 1995 the signature panther motif has adorned Meukow Cognac bottles, and thus become their unmistakable trademark. For this reason, it’s often referred to as the ‘jaguar spirit’.

About Meukow Cognac
As the name suggests, Cognac Meukow is one of the few Russian Cognac brands in the Charente region. In 1862 two brothers were sent over to France to supply the Tsar with Cognac and decided to start their own Cognac distillery.
The brand has become known as the “jaguar liquor”, or the “panther liquor”, thanks to its distinctive bottle design. The big cat in question is in fact a puma, and today, with its famous logo, ranks among the most well-known Cognac brands in the world. Its qualities are strength, elegance, sensuality and exotism, the character traits of the puma.
The distillery is housed in Matha in the Charente Maritime, and are particularly celebrated for their VS Cognac, Vanilla Cognac liqueur and 90-Proof Liquor among many others.
