Description

Complex and Grandiose, this Godet Grande Champagne Offering is the Cream of the Crop

Godet dips into its treasure trove of Réserve Cognacs with Grande Champagne Ambleville Cognac. Harmonious, smooth, versatile and rare, it is a fine example of the undisputed quality of the Grande Champagne Cru as well as the dedication and expertise of Cognac house Godet.

Godet boasts 14 generations of family-focused Cognac production. The house has created Cognacs alongside some of the most famous historical events both in France and abroad; as the July Monarchy petered into extinction in France in 1848, Augustin Godet was busy blending eaux de vie. And in the 1920s, the American Prohibition wasn’t enough to deter the house from producing exquisite brandies for any cunning customers across the pond.

Though the age of a Réserve brandy is officially 10 years minimum– just like an XO, it is widely understood as being of a higher quality than XO, Napoleon and Extra Cognac varieties. This is because this is a blend that uses the Cognac house’s oldest and most precious barrels, which sit largely untouched in ‘Paradis’ cellars. The average age of a Réserve is an impressive half-century– a level of maturation that promises to carry mouth-watering results.

Godet Grande Champagne Ambleville Cognac lives up to this reputation, with floral and roasted notes captivating the nose. On the palate, the experience is long, with a journey that evolves from fresh orange blossom to sophisticated Russian leather. Harmony and smoothness are achieved on both the nose and the palate, making for a Cognac full of character and refinement.

This grandiose brandy is introduced to the Cognac aficionado via a charming Cognacaise bottle. It is a warm amber in color, and the cracked effect of the glass bottle adds a charming, seaside touch, conjuring images of sailors clinking glasses on the sea off La Rochelle long ago, or the dreamy narrative of a message in a bottle. It comes in a wooden box which only extends this storybook, seaside charm, and the packaging is perfected with the brand’s name etched in gold.

This ravishing Reserve deserves pride of place in any connoisseur’s Cognac cabinet.
