Description
Taste A Century of Flavor in Normandin-Mercier’s Très Vieille Grande Champagne
The Normandin-Mercier Tres Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac is one of the flagship products of this wonderful cognac house. With over a century of aging in the cellars of Normandin-Mercier, it is a truly old Grande Champagne that serves as a living tribute to the house’s proud founder.
Tres Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac finds its ravishing roots in Normandin-Mercier, a cognac house full of passion and knowledge that dates back all the way to 1872. Sitting amongst the beautiful surroundings of Château de la Péraudière, they produce cognacs that range from a VSOP upwards, alongside a superb collection of Pineau de Charentes. Today, Normandin-Mercier’s reputation is upheld by Edouard, Jean-Marie and Audrey Normandin, who form a formidable family unit.
Such old cognacs guarantee an immersive, powerful effect on the senses, and this Hors d’Age number is no exception, promising a powerhouse of aromas and flavors. With strength on both the nose and the palate, this eau-de-vie forms a fulfilling experience with a delectable long finish. On the nose, a fantastic fruitiness - candied and dried - is dominant, and an array of aromas including chocolate, roasted coffee, rancio, wood and cigar box join to exquisite effect. These aromas are elevated further with the addition of spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, liquorice and saffron, and a floral rose rounds out the pristine pack.
On the palate, Tres Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac is ample and powerful. Fruits and spices join forces alongside hits of rancio to form an intoxicatingly long tasting experience. This cognac is recommended neat; connaisseurs are invited to revel in centuries’ worth of flavor.
A rich red mahogany in color, with reddish-copper highlights, Normandin-Mercier Tres Vieille Grande Champagne glistens from within its captivating Cognacaise bottle. It contains 700ml of the high-quality eau-de-vie and is at 40% volume.
