Meukow Prestige Nec Plus Ultra Grande Champagne Cognac
Crafted exclusively from grapes harvested in the Premier Cru, the Meukow Prestige Nec Plus Ultra Grande Champagne Cognac is something truly special. It comprises the oldest eaux-de-vie from within the house's Paradis Cellar, presented in a stunning Baccarat Crystal decanter. The Cognac itself is wonderfully elegant with a mature structure. Persistent on the palate, this shows complexity and roundness, allowing aromas and tastes to evolve effortlessly. Truly a great example of a well-aged Grand Champagne expression.
Meukow was founded by two brothers from Silesia, August-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, and is today one of the few Russian Cognac brands in the Charente region. Initially sent to source Cognac for Tsar Alexander II in 1850, the brothers travelled back and forth for years in their search for the most prestigious casks. Seeing an opportunity to start up business for themselves, in 1862 they decided to remain in France and opened their distillery.
The company grew rapidly, managed under the influence of prestigious shareholders like Henri Bouraud, the Mayor of Cognac from 1849 to 1869. Today, Meukow Cognac is distributed in over 80 countries around the world. Cellar Master Anne Sarteaux oversees all production of Meukow Cognac, and with her distinctive style and attention to detail, she carries on traditions that have been passed down since the house was founded.
Presentation of the Bottle
With its mid-century charm, you can’t help but be taken in by this unusual decanter. Crafted in Baccarat crystal with a giant chrome stopper, this would make a stunning centerpiece for any Cognac collection - the very essence of a ‘top shelf’ spirit. The original decanter drawings date back to the 1950s, a nod to the extended age of the liquid housed within.
How to Enjoy Meukow Prestige Nec Plus Ultra Grande Champagne Cognac
To truly appreciate this Cognac, we recommend drinking it neat from a delicate tulip glass at room temperature. Serve after a fine dinner, with a fine cigar or simply on its own.
About Meukow Cognac
As the name suggests, Cognac Meukow is one of the few Russian Cognac brands in the Charente region. In 1862 two brothers were sent over to France to supply the Tsar with Cognac and decided to start their own Cognac distillery.
The brand has become known as the “jaguar liquor”, or the “panther liquor”, thanks to its distinctive bottle design. The big cat in question is in fact a puma, and today, with its famous logo, ranks among the most well-known Cognac brands in the world. Its qualities are strength, elegance, sensuality and exotism, the character traits of the puma.
The distillery is housed in Matha in the Charente Maritime, and are particularly celebrated for their VS Cognac, Vanilla Cognac liqueur and 90-Proof Liquor among many others.
