Description

Frapin Cuvée 1888 Cognac

Frapin Cuvée Cognac 1888 is a reference to the Gold Medal won by Pierre Frapin at the Exposition Universelle de Paris 1888. Today the medal is kept in the cellars of the Frapin estate in Segonzac. To honor such a significant year, the house of Frapin curated this very old blend that is made up of eaux-de-vie that’s distilling process dates all the way back to 1888. Bottled in limited quantities, precisely 1888 bottles are available to be purchased. A precious and prestigious product offering intense aromas including dried fruits, citrus fruits, vanilla and hints of exotic wood. Prevailing notes of Folle Blanche allows this sought-after vintage to stand out as even more exclusive and rare to come by. A one-of-a-kind premium quality Cognac to be enjoyed by connoisseurs and collectors seeking to cherish one of the rarest Cognacs on the market.

The house of Frapin is fronted by a family of award winning pioneers in the art of blending vintage eaux-de-vie, as they were in fact the very first Cognac house to produce a mult-vintage blend. Favouring advanced techniques and natural treatments, Frapin are an innovative Cognac house with a vision for sustainable development. Based in the heart of the Grande Champagne region and covering hundreds of hectares of land, Maison Frapin is a brand to be truly inspired by.

Presentation of the bottle

Dressed inside a crystal carafe fit for royalty, its presentation is uniquely crafted by Maison Frapin and is made from the Cristalleries Royales de Champagne, including a 24 carat gold element. With its curvaceous form and gold swirl spiral that surrounds it, the carafe itself is a fine work of art to be admired by those lucky enough to set eyes on it. Housed within a bespoke wooden box with double opening doors, this Cuvee is sure to turn heads and stand out amongst other collectors items in the cabinet.

How to enjoy

Rare works of art like Cuvee 1888 Cognac deserve your utmost attention: pour gently into a tulip glass and let it rest for 30 seconds. Sip slowly and let the pure and intense aromas do the talking. For a slightly different tasting experience, add a small dash of mineral water to allow the tasting notes to open up even further. We recommend serving this special Cognac as a digestive at the end of a meal with a cigar.

About Frapin Cognac

The Frapin family has been around the Southwest of France since 1270. Always active in the domain of winegrowing, they specialized in distillation much later on and have since continued to stand strong throughout twenty one generations! The estate owns 340 hectares of land entirely in the Grande Champagne area, of which 240 are planted with vines. Frapin’s home in the beautiful castle Fontpinot in the town of Segonzac. The most famous family member was the 16th century author Francois Rabelais, after whom a prestigious Frapin Cognac bottle is named: The Cuvee Rabelais, rather fittingly, the house of Frapin is also the only Cognac estate granted permission to call itself a Chateau within the entire Grande Champagne cru. Alongside many other accolades, Frapin was the first Cognac producer to invent a multi-vintage blend, combining vintages of different years to create the perfect taste.
