Description
Navarre Pineau des Charentes Rosé
Pineau des Charentes Rose is made from eaux-de-vie manually harvested from the Grande Champagne cru of Cognac. Having aged for several years in French oak barrels Pineau Rose is characterized by its delicious fruity nuances and makes for a blissful summer’s aperitif.
The Navarre family estate extends over 11 hectares of vineyards exclusively located in Grande Champagne, Premier Cru of Cognac. Across one of its hectares, the grapes are grown to produce Pineau des Charentes including Navarre Pineau des Charentes Rose and Vieux. Distillation takes place in a 10hl copper still and is driven by the cellar master himself Nicky Navarre before being transported to the cellars which are located by the Charente river to undergo the aging process. From cultivating the land to the final bottling and branding, the house of Navarre oversees every step of the way with meticulous precious and attention to detail.
Presentation of the bottle
Displayed in a traditional Charentais bottle, this pineau hones in on the history of the brand and the continuously progressing years of expertise that is dedicated to the production of artisanal products in the Cognac region of France. It presents a charming display of the vibrant colored eaux-de-vie inside and makes a sumptuous gift to an enthusiast of Pineau des Charentes or indeed someone who is looking to try this eau-de-vie based spirit for the first time.
How to enjoy
Pink Pineau like this one can be served chilled as an aperitif and is also versatile when paired with desserts including rich and velvety chocolate desserts as well as delicate fruit tarts and cream-based dishes. Mix with tonic water and ice to create a refreshing long drink that doesn’t distract from the fruity aromatics and the premium quality of the eaux-de-vie.
About Navarre Cognac
You could consider Jacky Navarre, fourth generation distiller of Cognac Navarre, to be one of the last remaining “purists” of his kind. Distilling from the eleven-acre estate in Gondeville of the Grande Champagne, he hand-harvests his fruit - a true artisanal method that is nowadays rare to find. This ancient Cognac house crafts truly traditional Cognac, with an average of 40-50 years for one blend alone. Amazingly, the Cognacs that emerge from this house have no water added - the barrels are oxidized over a long period by the humidity of the cellar alone. The result is a Cognac of unrivaled quality, aroma and depth. His rule is simple - “let nature do most of the work” and the rest will come.
