Description

Hardy Pineau Blanc Le Coq d'Or

This white Pineau des Charentes is made using the Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard grape varieties, combining the lightly fermented grape must with Cognac eau-de-vie before being aged for a minimum of five years to be given the classification ‘Vieux Pineau’. This expression shows the true Hardy style, fine and subtle in aroma - offering a perfect balance between freshness and roundness. Hardy Pineau Blanc Le Coq d'Or boasts a golden colour and complex palate, making it an intense, elegant, full pineau - perfect both before and after dinner.

The English wine and spirits merchant Anthony Hardy made the decision to establish himself as a Cognac trader as far back as 1863. He changed his name to the more French-sounding Antoine and set up business as a distiller and dealer of Cognac. Within only a few years he was being recognized for the quality of his products and built up a strong supply of eaux-de-vie; lucky indeed, as the phylloxera epidemic was soon to take hold. Hardy came out on the other side and expanded into an international network of distributors.

In the 21st Century, the House of Hardy is appropriately run by two women - Bénédicte and Sophie Hardy - who continue to promote their family brand across North America and Europe.

Presentation of the Bottle

The distinct bottle features a large embossed cockerel on the glass, with the Hardy name placed underneath and a vintage-style label.

How to Enjoy Hardy Pineau Blanc Le Coq d'Or

This expressive Pineau des Charentes is an ideal aperitif, served cold (8-10°C). It’s a great accompaniment to hors d'oeuvres such as stuffed mushrooms or pancetta-wrapped scallops, or alternatively, served alongside fruit-based desserts.

About Hardy Cognac

With a history dating back to 1863, Cognac Hardy is well known for quality cognacs and traditional production methods. Passed down throughout the generations, this family house of cognac, which can be recognized by its rooster logo, was one of the very first to embrace the spoils of a worldwide distribution network. Thanks to the love of an entrepreneurial Englishman for the French Charentaise countryside, Cognac Hardy boasts a 150 year history of providing a range of cognacs to the four corners of the globe.
