Eye: This old red pineau reveals a mahogany red dress with amber highlights.

Nose: The nose is rich and evolved. It opens with notes of kirsch cherries, dried fruits and nuts. The combining of woody notes forms a varied and greedy scent.

Palate: The palate is round, dense and complex. It opens with notes of prunes, cherries and dried walnuts. Slowly, it combines a woody appearance with hints of rancio that linger on notes of bitter cocoa. The tannins are present but melted to create a pleasant freshness that provides a persistent and refined length in the mouth.

Description

Domaine du Chêne Old Red Pineau

From the estate's reserves, the Domaine du Chêne Old Red Pineau is a rich, evolved selection with a persistent finish. Eaux-de-vie from clay-limestone soil / sandy soil, aged in oak barrels within a dedicated cellar. Its long years of processing created a stunning copper robe, offering intense rancio and a delightful nut palate. A fine showcase from start to finish, it’s an excellent example of just how good a Pineau can be.

Produced from the Charente Maritime in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, it’s a selection that boasts a richness typical of the Domaine du Chêne house. With expertise dating back to 1865, the estate has upheld quality and authenticity for decades. Bringing its history into the present, innovation is at the heart of every Cognac creation. Renowned for producing Pineau’s that are rich and robust, it’s certainly a house that you can trust when it comes to creating Cognac masterpieces.

Presentation of the bottle

A typical Domaine du Chêne display, the bottle design is understated, yet superbly sophisticated. The clean white label is complemented by copper tone branding that outlines the contents beautifully. A traditional wooden top alludes to the Pineau’s history, whilst also demanding its place in the contemporary Cognac market. A fine showcase to display at a dinner party.

How to enjoy

The perfect accompaniment to a sophisticated meal. Pairs well with black Forest and cherry sorbet.

About Domaine du Chêne

Located at the heart of the Romanesque Saintonge province is Domaine du Chêne, which has remained a family estate for several generations since Jean-Baptiste Doussoux bought his first still in 1865.

The vineyard now covers 80 hectares growing several different grapes, including rare and old varieties like the Folle Blanche, among other classic varieties such as the Ugni Blanc.

The vineyards themselves are over 80 years old and today produce a range of bespoke products including their "Domaine du Chêne" range and Cognac "Jean Doussoux".
