Description
Un vin de dessert naturel primé
Aged for at least 10 years in oak casks, the Brillet Extra Old Pineau is a wonderful mix of Cognac and grape juice aged. Brillet are well known for their ability to produce Pineau des Charentes of an exceptional quality, and has won them a number of awards and accreditations.
This particular Pineau is a beautifully natural aperitif, and will go brilliantly with cheese or dessert.
Note the aromatic wealth of oak and honey - a result of many years aging in oak casks.
It has been crafted with Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes for the grape juice, and Ugni Blanc for the Cognac eaux-de-vie. The grapes are then macerated after two days to produce a freshly fermented grape juice - but not too much.
Once the grapes have been harvested, then 75% grape juice that has fermented to 1% alcoholic content is carefully mixed with 25% eaux-de-vie Cognac at 71% alcohol.
Besides Cognac, Pineau is a classic spirit created in the Charente. You will typically find that most Cognac houses produce their own family Pineau with their finest stocks.

About Brillet J R Cognac
Proud of its family tradition, Brillet Cognac insists that the history is entirely linked to that of cognac. As early on as 1656, Guy Brillet installed his first alembic (the classic still) at his property in the Grande Champagne. This was the introduction of the double distillation process that creates cognac to this day. The Brillets live off their philosophy that things made with care are more valuable, sticking to traditional techniques of production and packaging. Their motto is not to impress through high maintenance or expensive containers, but rather through a humble and high quality aesthetic: a real family business!
