Nose: Wonderful balance of orchard fruits, blackberries and a nutty undertone that reveals its time spent in oak casks.

Description

Chainier Pineau des Charentes Rosé

Only made during exceptional years, the Chainier Pineau des Charentes Rosé has been produced from high-quality Merlot grapes with a good balance of acidity and sugar. The grapes are macerated for 36 hours before the juice is extracted in a pneumatic press under low pressure. After sitting for 12 hours, some old Petite Champagne Cognac is added to the obtained juice in order to avoid fermentation. The Pineau will is initially kept in stainless steel vats during its first winter, after which it is transferred to oak casks and left to mature. After gaining the right level of complexity and flavor, it’s filtered and clarified before bottling.

The Chainier family, originally from the Petite Champagne region, have been making Pineau de Charentes for generations. It was in 1970 that Guy Chainier and his son Dominique began to work together on a range of Cognacs, and in the 1980s Dominique Chainier took over the family property in Arthenac to develop the retail side of the business. Branching out from the smaller of the two Champagne regions, the family purchased an 18-hectare vineyard in Grande Champagne, expanding their product potential significantly.

Fiercely independent, the family continue marketing their own products today, with Dominique Chainier and his grandson Clément reaching people around the world through their website as well as numerous trade fairs.

Presentation of the Bottle

The Chainier Pineau des Charentes Rosé comes in a tall, straight bottle, a classic style which was originally popular in the 19th century. The understated label features the Chainier emblem and the bottle is sealed with red foil on the neck.

How to Enjoy Chainier Pineau des Charentes Rosé

This complex Pineau is best served as an aperitif, or simply enjoyed chilled (5 to 6°C) at any time. It very well suited to melon-based dishes, or with walnuts or red fruits desserts. Its bright fruitiness also makes it a great match for dark chocolate.

Like red wines, Pineau des Charentes Rubis contains polyphenols and tannins which can form a deposit in the bottle. This deposit does not reduce the quality of the product.
