Tesseron Composition Fine Champagne Cognac: a Balance of Youth and Maturity
A very different option from a house that up until now has only ever showcased XO and above quality Cognac, the Tesseron Composition Fine Champagne Cognac really does prove how truly talented Tesseron are at bringing a slightly younger model to market. Don't worry - there's plenty of older eaux-de-vie within this VSOP blend to ensure the highest of quality - not to mention maturity on the palate.
Be in no doubt, this is an excellent sipping Cognac, and certainly, one that will stand up to the most rigorous of connoisseur taste tests. The Fine Champagne designation means it's a blend of both Grande and Petite Champagne Cognac, with at least 50% of the eaux-de-vie sourced from the Premier Cru.
The Tesseron family have been making wine and spirits since the 19th century, when founder Abel Tesseron acquired an old estate in Chateauneuf-sur-Charente. Realizing the importance of quality grapes to make eaux-de-vie, Abel cultivated vineyards over two separate estates, one in Grand Champagne (Boneuil) and the other in Petite Champagne (Saint-Surin) before storing his high-quality Fine Champagne eaux-de-vie in the Chateau's 12th-century crypt. To this day, the crypt provides a unique atmosphere for the maturation process, and is protected by guard dogs 24 hours a day, protecting young Cognac as well as casks that have been stored there for over 175 years.
Presentation of the Bottle
The striking bottle chosen for this VSOP Cognac perfectly represents the bold liquid inside. The heavy glass base, black foil and intricately designed label certainly make it stand out as a modern expression.
How to Enjoy Tesseron Composition Fine Champagne Cognac
Providing a round, complex, yet totally balanced drinking experience, this is a Cognac that is equally great on its own as it is in a mixed drink. Try serving it neat in tulip glasses at room temperature as a digestif, or over ice as an aperitif.
Over Tesseron Cognac
Tesseron Cognac specializes in high-end Cognac, exclusively producing “XO and beyond” blends from their ancestral home in Chateauneuf-sur-Charente, which lies between Cognac and Angouleme. When founder Abel Tesseron, whose face features on the company’s logo, acquired the property in the late 19th century, he patiently conserved his stocks of eaux-de-vie in the 12th-century crypt located deep underneath the domain, selling his matured masterpieces to various larger Cognac houses. These reserved and rare stocks have become legendary amongst Cognac connoisseurs the world over. It was, however, only in 2003 that the fourth generation of Tesserons made the decision to release a range under their own name, armed with an unrivalled Cognac craftsmanship and fueled by the legacy left by their grandfather, the iconic brand Tesseron Cognac was born.
The Tesserons are also active in wine production, owning the esteemed Chateau Pontet-Canet, a Pauillac classified property producing Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux Wine.
