G et C Raby VS Cognac
Groeigebied (Cru) & bodem: Grande Champagne
At the Knight’s Table: G&C Raby Cognac VS
This young, floral and vivacious Cognac is an honorable option for an aperitif - and comes from the home of a knight himself, the Logis de la Brée. The G&C Raby VS Cognac is a lively blend, with the youngest eau-de-vie aged for 4 years in oak casks, alongside another Cognac that has been aged for 8 years in these historic cellars.
Sitting at the heart of the Grande Champagne, G&C Raby occupy one of the most enviable estates in the entire region. Not only are their Cognacs of a prestigious quality, but their estate is where the traditional method of double distillation all began. It was ‘La Croix Maron’, a famous French knight who began distilling in the ‘Charentais’ way many years ago.
Now, Gérard and Cécile Raby carry on the traditions of the land as they store precious stocks of eaux-de-vie from the Premier Cru, and produce incredibly fresh, floral and fruity Cognacs such as their VS.
The Grande Champagne has millions of years of fossilization to thank for its unique soil composition. The high chalk content and rolling hills make it the perfect place for growing fine vines and even finer eaux-de-vie.
This will make an excellent aperitif, and will also go wonderfully in cocktails. It is fresh, fruity and lingering on the palate despite its relatively young age.
Presentation of the bottle
