Godet Vintage 1975 Fins Bois Cognac
Groeigebied (Cru) & bodem: Fins Bois
A Fine Fins Bois Harvest from 1975 - Godet Single Year Millésimé Cognac
Many say the Master Blender's role is vital in creating a charismatic Cognac. But with Godet "Single Year" 1975 Fins Bois Cognac, the blender's role is reduced, allowing nature to take its course and allow the Cognac's full expression to come to fruition alone.
Carefully nurtured to maturity in the unique cellars of the La Rochelle estate, this particular vintage is made exclusively from one single cru, harvested in one Single Year. A superb and special single vintage for only the most discerning drinkers and Cognac connoisseurs.
This particular example is a Fins Bois blend of eaux-de-vies from 1975. Aged for over 40 years in French oak casks, it comes from a terroir known for producing floral and fruity Cognacs. This Vintage is a snapshot of the weather conditions from one harvest alone.
The Single Vintage selection is only available on demand (as the Cognacs are stored in their casks of demijohns until requested) and are bottled by hand.
The range starts from 1800 right up to today, and this wide range of choice in millesime is designed for those connoisseurs who wish to capture and experience the magic of one particular year, retelling the stories of the past, whether it be a nostalgic personal memory or a monumental moment in history.
What makes Godet stand out on the Cognac market is their La Rochelle location, the unique, salty and humid environment works magic on the eaux-de-vie during the aging process. Each individual bottle is always one single harvest from one single vineyard, meaning only one terroir and one moment in time. Left to mature in only the highest quality French oak casks, the Cognac is left to age by the Atlantic coast.
The Godet Coat of Arms was bestowed upon the family by King Louis XIV, the three glasses is a symbol of not only the fact they are kings of their craft, that Cognac is in their blood, but equally that the family have had a huge influence on Cognac's popularity both in the past, and in the present.
This important history has been captured throughout time in Godet’s range of single vintages. History remains an essential part of the estate's business model, privileging the traditional grape of yesteryear, "Folle Blanche" a somewhat forgotten grape that has, for the most part, been replaced by Ugni Blanc.
The revival of this grape in their eaux-de-vie is just one of many examples of Godet embracing the future while preserving the past.
Presentation of the bottle
Each bottle is individual and selected by Cellar Masters on demand. Ran by the 15th generation of a Cognac dynasty; Jean Edouard, Maxime and Cyril Godet have taken the heritage, history and craftsmanship of their ancestors before them and ran with it, elevating the estate by creating a legendary and luxurious brand with 500 years of savoir-faire under their belt.
Over Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
