Encased in a box that opens to either side the elegant decanter is revealed like the star of a solo show as the curtains part, this would make a very nice presentation or gift (which is how I got it).
Less amber than mahogany lightened by copper with good body in the glass.
The first nose is spices with just a little fruitiness.
Some minutes later the dried fruit notes have overtaken the spices, though not by much and subtle hints of leather have emerged.
Surprisingly there is little spice in the mouth, some sweetness though it’s not fruit-sweet, the fruit notes are there, but the the sweetness doesn’t come from them, a hint of citrus on the nose as I drink. This is a very nice brandy, but it seems as if it’s complexity is engineered rather than designed.
The finish is what should be expected of this quality with, dare I say it, rancio towards the end.
