A Sweet Taste of Elegance: Godet O de Poire
Godet O de Poire is a new, ‘lighter’ version of this esteemed Maison’s current fruity cognac liqueur – Pearadise. Targeted towards female consumers and people who love a lighter, fruity flavor in their drinks, this is a great liqueur to drink on its own as well as in cocktails.
Presented at a modest 17% ABV, O de Poire has been described by Godet Cognac as a new expression that will help deliver the joy of Cognac to a wider audience. According to the CEO of Godet Cognac, this is a bottle intended to “expand the boundaries of Cognac”, by challenging preconceptions and giving people a new twist on Cognac liqueurs.
Founded in 1782, Godet Cognac ranges amongst the oldest Cognac houses. The Godet family has been based in the seaside town and former trading hub La Rochelle for 400 years and since the very beginnings of Cognac production, they have played an important role in perfecting this culture. Cognac Godet has been in the hands of the same family for 14 generations, who have placed tradition and excellence at the heart of their business. Godet is also one of the few Cognac producers who focus on cultivating and using the Folle Blanche grape variety, the original Cognac grape.
The Godet family's expertise in wine-making results in outstanding wine and liqueurs as well as Cognac - an excellent standing for a family-run company. The business is headed by Godet president Jean-Jacques Godet, assisted by his three sons Jean Eduard, Maxime and Cyril.
Presentation of the Bottle
The bottle chosen for Godet O de Poire is simply elegant; tall and slim with gold foil, it also features a design of pear tree branches on the front.
How to Enjoy Godet O de Poire
This fruity liqueur is perfect served on its own or over ice - but we also love it mixed up in an Orchard Sidecar:
- 35ml Godet Calvados Michel
- 25ml Godet O de Poire
- 20ml Lemon Juice
Shake everything with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled coupette glass. For a little extra sweetness, you can prepare the glass ahead of time with a sugar rim: simply rub the rim of the glass with a lemon slice and dip in a saucer of caster sugar.
Over Godet Cognac
The house of Godet has been run by the family for 14 generations. It is a perfect example of a cognac house that deeply believes in the tradition of this spirit and its origins. At the same time, Godet manages to move with modern times, having recently created a cognac from a grape that is almost extinct in the cognac industry: Folle Blache. This cognac is called "Antarctica Godet" and was inspired by a 2-month sailing trip to the South Pole.
