Courvoisier behoort tot de vier toonaangevende Cognachuizen in de wereld - ook wel bekend als de 'Grote Vier'. Volgens de legende koos keizer Napoléon zelf Courvoisier als zijn favoriete Cognac, daarom wordt Courvoisier ook wel "De Cognac van Napoleon" genoemd. Het bedrijf dateert van 1828 en heeft sindsdien haar hoofdkantoor in de stad Jarnac. Met prestigieuze flessen zoals Courvoisier Napoléon of Josephine staat het Cognachuis aan de top van de markt voor luxe gedistilleerde dranken. De Courvoisier VS, VSOP en Rose Liqueur zijn ook erg populair.
