Alleen was het geen romantische interesse die zijn aandacht trok, maar een marktkoopman met een Cognac die, zonder dat hij het toen wist, hem nog jaren zou bijblijven. What a discovery by Max! Chalais Market is somewhat of a jewel in Charente, and as one of the only surviving farmer’s markets left of the Charente region, it remains a firm favorite of Max to visit as often as he gets the chance. Around 6 years ago, Max was wandering the market stalls in Chalais when he happened upon an old gentleman selling a singular bottle of Cognac on his stand. He invited Max to taste the Cognac, and then… Max went on with his day. But last year (2022), he found Monsieur Choloux at the market, tasted his outstanding Cognac and discovered that the Choloux estate is only a twenty-minute drive away from Max and Sophie's family estate Logis de Beaulieu.
