An organic Napoleon Cognac from the Petite Champagne and Fins Bois terroirs

Presenting the organic edition of a rich and refined Cognac - the Cognac Moisans Napoléon Biologique. This Cognac has been produced with respect paid to the environment and generations of savoir-faire. Slowly matured in French oak casks, it has been double distilled in the Moisans alambic still. Crafted with Ugni Blanc grapes, this Napoleon “Bio” is an assembly of very old eaux-de-vie of at least 10 years in age.

Moisans have selected the finest of eaux-de-vie for their blend. The Petite Champagne is renowned for producing fine, light and floral eaux-de-vie with a lengthy finish. This is thanks to the high chalk content that allows for easy drainage of the soil. The geography of the cru is really quite fascinating, as it was formed millions of years ago during the Jurassic period. The combination of the soil content, undulating hills and maritime climate make for wonderful eaux-de-vie.

The Fins Bois is more earthy than the Petite Champagne, but it is known for producing smooth and supple eaux-de-vie.

The Moisans property is home to 12 2,500-liter Charentais stills, which are distilling the eaux-de-vie from the end of summer to March the following year. The Moisans Distillery is home to a vast reserve of Cognac to make sure that quality is always as high as possible, and that their Cognacs are aged to perfection.

This hamlet in the Cognac region is made from the limestone from the surrounding soil. This limestone provides the best soil for growing vines, as the vines need to plunge deep in order to grow. When Roland Bru acquired the property in the 1960s, he began a tradition of Cognac making that would be carried on for generations. Located near the Charente River, it is in a truly iconic spot.

The family has accumulated a unique savoir-faire acquiring the property and now understand the nature of the soil in which their vines are grown.

How to enjoy

The Moisans Napoleon Bio should be enjoyed neat, at around 25 degrees Celsius in a tulip or balloon glass. With still or sparkling water, it also reveals its complexity.

This is a classic bottle, with a simple cream label and a small illustration of the Moisans estate.

About Cognac Moisans

When Roland Bru settled in the Cognac region in 1960, he purchased an iconic property along the banks of the Charente River - a key feature in the history of the Cognac trade. He rebuilt and expanded the Distillerie des Moisans, outfitting it with the equipment that make it an exceptional producer of fine Cognac.

Today Cognac Moisans encompasses 30 hectares of vines in the Fins Bois, with 95% of their vineyard of the Ugni Blanc grape variety.
Having been passed down the Bru Legaret family for three generations, the single estate process - from distilling, ageing, bottling and marketing - all takes place here in this small and historic hamlet.
