Description

Martell Noblige: A Truly Noble Experience

Martell Noblige Cognac is named in reference to the old French saying, 'Noblesse Oblige'. Translated to ‘nobility obligates’, it calls on the responsibilities which come with wealth and power; a suitable reference for a dignified and sophisticated Cognac. Delightfully fruity on the palate, this Napoléon blend contains Cognacs aged 10 years or more, incorporating a greater share of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies region for a floral aroma.

The oldest of the great Cognac houses, the House of Martell celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2015. Aged only 21 when he started out, founder Jean Martell built his family home and business on the banks of the Charente River where it still stands today. Martell Cognac has always attracted people of extravagant tastes, counting George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Napoleon Bonaparte, Tsar Nicholas II and Winston Churchill among its fans - fine company indeed for such a noble brand.

Presentation of the Martell Noblige bottle

Expressing a timeless elegance, the long, curved lines of Noblige look great displayed on top of a drinks cabinet.

How to enjoy Martell Noblige

This is a versatile Cognac that can be enjoyed in many ways.  Its complex palate makes Martell Noblige perfect to drink on its own in a delicate tulip glass, but the more adventurous might turn to a rich, stirred-down cocktail. Why not try the Ampersand, first published in The Old Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Bar Book (1935):

  • 30ml Martell Noblige Cognac
  • 30ml Old Tom Gin
  • 30ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 5ml Dry Curaçao
  • 1 dash Orange Bitters

Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupette, garnish with a twist of lemon peel.

Whichever way you choose to drink it, Martell Noblige will always 'oblige' - it's a Cognac as individual as you are as a person.

About Martell Cognac

Martell is the oldest of the Big Four Cognac houses. Similar to Rémy Martin, but a few years older still, not long ago did Martell celebrate its 300-year anniversary. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market, and are famous for using large amounts of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. It belongs to Pernod Ricard and has sales of around 15 million liters every year. The most precious eaux-de-vie, some of which date back to 1830, are stored in a secret location in the cellars of Jean Martell - approximately 1.6 million 9-liter cases!
