Description

Camus Ile de Ré Double Matured: Where The Land Meets The Sea

Camus Ile de Ré Double Matured Cognac is an extraordinary blend of eaux-de-vie grown on the small island of Ile de Ré, in the most westerly part of the Cognac region known as Bois Ordinaires. Battered by strong Atlantic winds, grapes grown here are highly influenced by the seaside climate.

To enhance the flavour further, this expression has undergone a double maturation. Initially matured on the island in a high-humidity cellar, the eaux-de-vie are later transported to the Cognac region to be finished in very old ‘red’ barrels. These barrels have undergone a special toasting process at the cooperage to provide structure, body and a gentle smoked flavor to the Cognac; the resulting taste is a striking combination of island character balanced by fruity notes and an outstanding smoothness.

Camus is a long-running Cognac house, famous for producing a wide range of eaux-de-vie. Founded by the winegrower and distiller Jean-Baptise Camus in 1863, it remains in the hands of the Camus family to this day.

Presentation of the bottle

Camus Ile de Ré Double Matured Cognac is presented in a stout, masculine bottle, featuring an image of the Ile de Ré lighthouse. A sea-green box completes the package.

How to Enjoy Camus Ile de Ré Double Matured Cognac

Best enjoyed over ice, or with a dash of water, the smoky character and the maritime influence will express themselves to the full, providing the lucky drinker with a truly memorable and unique tasting experience.

This Cognac is an excellent match for seafood dishes such as oysters and shellfish.

About Camus Cognac

Since 1863, five generations of the Camus family have cultivated a single-minded passion for crafting great Cognac with their own style. Laid across 180 hectares in the smallest and rarest AOC cru - the Borderies - the Camus family has always been deeply involved in winemaking and distilling. It is this unbreakable bond between the land, the traditions and the people who live on it that helps them craft superb Cognacs. Today, it is Cyril Camus who is the bearer of all family tradition and oversees the undisputed quality of Camus Cognac. Export development and product development remain at the top, with a passion for innovation. Cyril Camus has entirely modernized the Cognac house’s interiors, relying on a fresh new take on Cognac for the new century. Instead of leather, wood and velvet in shades of brown, he opts for light colors and a combination of tradition and modern design.
