Eye: Natural amber.

Nose: Discreet notes of orange, alcohol and natural aromas harmoniously mixed with Cognac, Bas-Armagnac vintage 1979 and very old French Brandy (rare spirits represent more than 40% of the total). The liquor aged 3 years minimum in Bourbon casks in Grosperrin cellars. A maceration of bresh blackcurrant buds, before bottling, bring a real elegance.

Palate: The attack is supple, sweet and complex, without any spirituous harshness. Bitter orange on the finish is accompanied by soft wood and tannins.

Description

Grosperrin Orange d'Or Liqueur Cognac

Blending rare alcohols, natural essences of bitter oranges and sugar with alcohol, very old Armagnacs, French Brandy and Cognac, Grosperrin Orange d'Or Liqueur Cognac is a complex beverage with fantastic depth of flavor. To perfectly blend all the components, they are aged in for a minimum of three years in ex-American Bourbon barrels, where they develop both color and complex notes of oak. After three years, the liqueur is drawn off and then macerated in a small tank with buds of Burgundy blackcurrant, further developing its fruity qualities. Before being sold, the bottles are left to rent for a few months to incorporate every ingredient and create an overall sense of harmony.

Grosperrin Cognac was created in 1992 by Cognac broker and merchant, Jean Grosperrin. After working in the wine industry for many years, Jean had created valuable relationships with winegrowers in Cognac, and contacts through which he could purchase some of the oldest and most sought after eaux-de-vies that had been produced over the decades in Charente. Today the house is still very much a family affair, being run by Guilhem Grosperrin since 2004. Grosperrin Cognacs are strictly controlled, with dates and vintages being fully traceable.

About Grosperrin Cognac

The independent Cognac house of Grosperrin is a relatively new one in the region, having only been established in 1999 by its founder, Jean Grosperrin. Grosperrin is based in Saintes which sits between the terroirs of Fins Bois and Borderies and it is today run by Jean’s son, Guilhelm, who took over in 2004 at just 23 years old.

Guilhelm’s mission is to discover producers all across the region in order to create truly unique Cognacs from the six crus. This vision was made possible by the fantastic relationships Jean Grosperrin built with producers, and that Guilhelm has since built on and expanded. Today, Grosperrin works with over 150 Cognac producers, from which Guilhelm will meticulously select barrels to craft into exquisite end bottles.
