The Vallein Tercinier Liaison Intime Cognac is a special blend that beautifully unites two distinct Fins Bois eaux-de-vie, resulting in a Cognac that is both harmonious and complex. Crafted from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes and distilled with lees in traditional 15-hectoliter alambics, this Cognac reflects Vallein Tercinier’s deep heritage and expert craftsmanship. The maturation process occurs in both humid and dry cellars, allowing the spirit to develop a layered and refined character over time.
This unique creation is a marriage of two rare components: one half is a Fins Bois Lot 75, unreleased until now, while the other half is from the Très Vieux Fins Bois used in Vallein Tercinier's Small Batch 46, which has been aging for nearly 40 years. With its natural color preserved and no additives used, this Cognac showcases the true essence of its terroir. As described by Guillaume Tercinier, “Liaison Intime brings together two Cognacs, timid in their individual aging, but united, they reveal the sweet and delicate fragrance of their land.”
With an ABV of 45%, Liaison Intime offers a fresh, chiseled palate that is both accessible and full of depth. It is a testament to the Vallein Tercinier family’s commitment to producing high-quality, traditional Cognacs since the house was founded in 1850. Now in its sixth generation, led by maître de chai Foucauld de Menditte, the estate spans 30 hectares in the Fins Bois and Bons Bois crus.
The Vallein Tercinier Liaison Intime Cognac is presented in a sleek, slender bottle that highlights the beautiful amber hue of the spirit inside. The transparent glass allows the natural color of the Cognac to shine through, while the simple, elegant label emphasizes its artisanal heritage. The bottle is topped with a black cap bearing the Vallein Tercinier crest, adding a touch of refinement to this collector’s piece.
To truly appreciate the complexity and refined character of the Vallein Tercinier Liaison Intime Cognac, it is best enjoyed neat. Letting the Cognac breathe will unlock its aromatic potential, offering fresh and nuanced flavors with a long, persistent finish. Whether you are a seasoned Cognac aficionado or exploring fine spirits for the first time, this Cognac delivers a delightful and sophisticated tasting experience.
I have never been disappointed by cognacs from Vallein Terciner. And I haven't tried this cognac before. This cognac has a somewhat light color. It is a bit heavy on the nose with sweet fruit notes and some darker tones. In mouth it is very appealing with spices and sweet fruit notes. I like this...
This is wonderfully complex on the nose, dank, leather, honey and dark fruits for me, but bright on the palate. Complex with flowers/honey and stone fruits (they say dried apricots and I totally agree) and a slight spice finish. The nose and the palate don’t match up the way my brain anticipates...
This cognac shows a deep golden colour. On the nose sweet, ripe peaches, fresh spicy notes like white pepper and mint mingled with sweet chocolate. The palate is succulent on juicy orchard fruits, a fine mixture of herbs and spices with fresh acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long on fresh...
I'm not even sure I want to translate the expression 'Liaison Intime' for you. It's true that in Low German (or Alsatian), it wouldn't have the same charm. And in English, it would sound like a cheap Netflix series. Colour: gold. Nose: very straight, on vineyard peaches and white chocolate. A minimalist...
With over 500 years of history, the artisan house of Vallein Tercinier is one that deserves the attention of all Cognac lovers – from those new to eaux-de-vie to the connoisseur. This brother and sister team bring an expertise to craft Cognac that's just aching to be discovered.
Many of their Cognac's have been awarded top class awards in many industry competitions, and this has meant a growing awareness of their products in some quarters. But, as with the aging process of Cognac, such a small craft brand is often lost amongst the noise razzmatazz of the 'big boys'. And that really is a crime, because as many esteemed connoiseurs are finding out, the offerings of Vallein Tercinier are of superb quality, unique, and once you've discovered them, will become a 'must have' brand to always have in your drinks cabinet.
Catherine and Louis are very proud to have stepped into the shoes of their many ancestors. And as is in keeping with family tradition, the've continued to move the company forward, whilst remaining true to the pure art of Cognac production. They've adapted the facilities to take full advantage of modern technology, and continue to produce some very special Cognacs indeed.
